What my students say

"I am addicted to my painting classes with Girl Conger. I love that all of the gals (so far no boys) in the class are supportive, funny and passionate about their work. The cohesiveness  is supportive and inspiring. And somehow, Girl has time to help all of us especially when we reach the emergency point of “I have no idea how to fix this mess.” And suddenly, a masterpiece erupts from the gloom. She challenges me and yet knows when I’ve reached my limit. I can question her and learn even more. I’m so comfortable in her studio and with her tutelage. it's easy."

- Lisa Darden

"Girl Conger as a teacher gave me creative freedom to pursue elements of art that interested me while pushing me conceptually and technically. She emphasized the importance of understanding line weight and value range in all my graphite drawings before learning to paint with oil. I learned how to create a visually interesting composition that could be both a study of another artist or subject while also capturing my techniques as a painter. I discovered my love for pointillism and fine line work through pen and ink suggested and encouraged by her. She created a comfortable space to hash out concepts and receive constructive criticism. My first introduction to color theory and the weight of cool and warm tones was in her class and has prepared me for my current art endeavors as a BFA major with an emphasis on painting. I started lessons with Girl when I was 12 and still send her my current work for her critical eye and analysis, which has pushed and developed my art to its current state today. I would give Girl the credit for giving me a solid foundation in the elements and principles of design required to create a piece. She also over everything else has been a cherished friend to me. I can't thank her enough for encouraging the study of art in college."

-McCall Massey

"Girl’s class is my weekly morning of Zen. A gifted artist, she knows just what to suggest to make my drawing or painting better, so my skills have really improved and broadened. The support and camaraderie of the small group keep it fun and relaxing, too. Before taking this class, I wanted to draw but never did. Now it’s an essential part of my life."
